What SP has done in term
of environmental sustainability?

Commitment

Installing solar panels

renewable energy

SP planned to install photo-voltaic panels across campus to harness renewable clean energy in 2023. This is a clean and green energy source because it converts sunlight into electricity with the help of solar photovoltaic cells.

Furthermore, SP cultivate eco-conscious habits by encouraging students and staff to use the 110+ water dispensers around campus and have ceased the use of plastic bottled water at their events.

All in all, using water dispenser encourages people to refill their water bottles instead of purchasing them, which can greatly reduce plastic wastes generated by SP and installing the solar photo-voltaic cells shows SP's commitment in creating a clean and sustainable campus.

Working with companies on sustainable projects

green partnership

SP believe in the importance of working together to push the green agenda forward. SP's partnerships, with industry leaders such as Grundfos, Danfoss and Singapore Green Building Council, go beyond developing sustainable solutions for local industries. SP continually strive to upskill the Singapore workforce on sustainable business practices.

For example, SP has partnered with companies to develop sustainable solutions, such as with Samwoh, a leading integrated construction company, to develop road surfaces that are mixed with recycled plastics which last 20% longer than traditional asphalt road surface.

Having these partnership allows SP students to be more aware of the importance of environment sustainability as they work with the relevant industries to create solutions to solve existing problems.

Constructing "Green" buildings

green_building

When taking a stroll along one of SP's many footpaths, you would find yourself immersed in greenery and nature—promoting relaxation, reducing stress and anxiety, and providing an instant mood boost.

This is done by incorporating elements of nature within a building using flora, thus establishing a visual link between SP's indoor spaces and the natural world. This integration has the potential to enhance emotional well-being, and even boost our ability to focus.

SP has 4 Green Mark Platinum Buildings, where T18A, T18B, T3B and the SP Sports Arena have been certified Green Mark Platinum with the on-going efforts to certify all 22 buildings in SP by 2025.

With that, SP will continue to change its campus's landscape through the integration of nature with all SP's buildings, making the campus environment more vibrant and calming to walk in.
